This month, in addition to hosting our usual array of socials, we are beginning to spin up our walking tour program, starting with a middle housing tour in Kirkland’s Rose Hill neighborhood on April 26. Plus, a sneak peek ahead: We’ll be at the opening celebration for Downtown Redmond light rail extension on May 10th. Come by our booth outside Downtown Redmond Station and say hello.

Additionally, we will be celebrating the kick-off of our annual Spring Subscriber Drive on Thursday, April 17 at our TeKu Tavern meetup. Come by to show your support for The Urbanist!

April 10th Seattle Urbanist Social 

  • What: A social gathering with urbanists and like-minded people to network and build community. We’ll be in the back room at Big Time.

April 17th Seattle Urbanist Social and Spring Subscriber Drive Kickoff

  • What: A social gathering with other urbanists and the Complete Communities Coalition where we’ll hear from the CCC about how you can engage in activism around Seattle’s Comprehensive Plan. Bring a laptop or other device from for sending emails. This month, we’ll also be kicking off our subscriber drive, which ensures The Urbanist can keep growing.

April 24th Social with Eastside Urbanism

  • What: A social gathering with Eastside Urbanism, a local community group of urbanists making their voices heard on the Eastside.
  • Where: Jack Sprat at Verde Esterra Park in Redmond.

April 26th Kirkland Walking Tour

  • What: A walking tour led by Kirkland city planner Adam Weinstein focusing on middle housing in Kirkland’s Rose Hill neighborhood. Ask questions, see new developments, and get a bit of exercise alongside fellow urbanists.
  • Where: The tour begins in front of Danielson Grove, 10500 128th Ave NE, Kirkland, WA 98033

May 10th Downtown Redmond Link Opening Celebration

  • What: The Downtown Redmond Link Extension is opening May 10 and The Urbanist will be tabling at the festival that Move Redmond is hosting outside Downtown Redmond Station. Come by and say hello to our team. Walk, bike, or roll between Downtown Redmond light rail station and Redmond Central Connector trail to celebrate the opening of light rail with vendors, live entertainment, delicious food, and family friendly activities.

  • What:  “Urbanist Book Jam is kinda like a book club, except instead of everyone reading the same book, we all read different books, and then everyone has five minutes to present the most IMPORTANT, most COMPELLING, most MIND BLOWING ideas in the book to everyone else. This isn’t school – you won’t be graded and we encourage passion, style, and weirdness. You’ll come away 10 times smarter, probably save a bunch of time, and make some new friends!”
