The Urbanist is hosting a social at TeKu Tavern on March 20th. Hope to see you there! (The Urbanist)

On Thursday, The Urbanist is hosting another social meetup with the Complete Communities Coalition to discuss opportunities to get engaged in the Seattle Comprehensive Plan process. RSVP to join for a night of socializing capped by a quick, easy political action to make your voice heard. Join us at TeKu Tavern in South Lake Union from 6pm to 8pm. More details below.

Eastsiders, we also have an event on your side of Lake Washington on Thursday, March 27 with our friends at Eastside Urbanism. We’ll be at Jack Sprat Care in Redmond from 6pm – 8pm. We’d love to see you there!

One Seattle plan

Our reporting team at The Urbanist has been covering the process extensively, including the Mayor’s proposed growth plan, the city council’s response, and backlash and legal appeals from local neighborhood groups. Recently, Council received public comment on the 20-year plan, and housing advocates outnumbered opponents, but it’s not clear councilmembers are listening as closely to pro-housing voices.

The Complete Communities Coalition (CCC) is an alliance of affordable housing advocates, community-based organizations, nonprofit developers, urbanists, environmentalists, the local business community, and more. Coalition members will update us on the latest with the plan. Last week, The Urbanist hosted another social with the CCC in the U District.

For those who can’t attend, the CCC has put together a convenient email template for supporters to tweak before sending to city councilmembers. The city council has received plenty of feedback from housing opponents and homeowner group activists – it is important that they hear from pro-housing voices as well.

Mountlake Terrace meetup was a hit

Thanks to everyone who attended our meetup in Mountlake Terrace on Saturday night. We had leaders from all over the north suburbs, including Shoreline, Bothell, and Kirkland, chatting with advocates from around the North Sound. It was a fun night — and one made so much easier to get to by the Lynnwood Link light rail extension. Watch for more North Sound events in the future.
