We’re thrilled to invite you to The Urbanist monthly meetup on May 16 at 5:30pm. As is our custom, the event will be at Stoup Capitol Hill, an all-ages space with non-alcoholic options and a food truck (El Gran Taco) outside.

We’re excited to be part of Affordable Housing Week and look forward to some discussion of the pressing need for housing in our communities and a jam-packed week of activities. Ahead of the meetup, check out housing coverage from The Urbanist.

Fighting to get a pro-housing growth strategy in the Seattle Comprehensive Plan will continue to be a theme at our meetup and Affordable Housing Week writ-large. The Complete Communities Coalition is urging people to sign their comment letter or submit one of their own on the City’s engagement hub. The draft plan comment period is open until 5pm May 20.

Urbanist meetups are a great opportunity to network, learn, and share ideas with like-minded folks. Whether you’re interested in transportation, housing, public space, sustainability, equity, or even if you’re new to urbanism, we invite you to join us. We are always looking to welcome new folks. Drop by to chat with some of your favorite contributors at The Urbanist.

Urbanist monthly meetups moving to fourth Thursdays

The Urbanist meetups are held every month at Stoup Capitol Hill (formerly Optimism Brewing). Stoup is an all-ages space, and they have a small play area for kids.

Starting in June, we will hold the meetups every fourth Thursday. They start at 5:30pm and end around 7:30, though you’re invited to hang out longer if you’d like. There is no formal agenda or presentation, though we hope to often invite those involved in recent Urbanist articles and activities. You can drop by anytime and stay as long as you want. And, of course, feel free to invite friends and colleagues who might be interested as well.

No RSVP needed — just bring your ideas and enthusiasm. We look forward to seeing you there!
