After several months of cancellations due to the pandemic, we are relaunching our monthly meetups online this month with Seattle City Councilmember Andrew Lewis as our guest speaker. The video meeting will start at 6:15pm May 12th (more details below).
In these trying times when many of us are cloistered in our homes, being engaged and active in our political process is more difficult but more important than ever. We hope our meetup can help us connect with our community and grapple with the issues we face together.
Andrew Lewis won his council seat in 2019 on a pro-housing platform and represents Council District 7, which includes, Uptown, Belltown, Queen Anne, Interbay, and Magnolia. Prior to being elected, Lewis worked as an assistant City Attorney and before that served on the Seattle Human Rights Commission, the Rental Housing Inspection Stakeholder Committee, the executive board of the 36th District Democrats, as a delegate to the MLK County Labor Council, and as campaign manager for Councilmember Nick Licata’s successful 2009 re-election campaign.
On City Council, Lewis is chair of the Select Committee on Homelessness Investments and Strategies, vice chair of the Community Economic Development Committee, and serves on the Finance and Housing Committee and the Land Use Committee. He will be talking about how the City is addressing the public health and economic crisis and taking your questions.
Our monthly social event is free, all ages, and open to everyone. We will continue to hold our monthly meetups online until such time as it’s safe to meet in person again. We hope you can join us!
